Put a Smile on Your Family's Face This Holiday Season

Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Better Oral Health

Along with sweet treats in your family's Holiday stockings, consider at least one item for their oral health. Stop in our office for some free dental floss or a new toothbrush-or for even more fun, here are five great oral hygiene items to put a smile on their face:

Beautiful Smile Gift. Give them a brighter, whiter smile with a tooth whitening gift certificate (perfect for a loved one who has a big event coming up). Whatever amount you want to spend, we prepare the certificate. Call us for details.

Tooth Whitening Pen. This click-pen applicator brushes hydrogen peroxide whitening gel on teeth. It's an easy way to brighten a smile for Holiday parties or a special event. Call us for more information.

Piksters. These little inderdental brushes clean the gaps between teeth very effectively and remove decaying food particles that may cause bad breath, plaque formation, and gum disease (especially good idea for people who don't floss). Sold at major drug stores, online, or stop in for a sample.

Breath Spray. Freshen breath and kill some bad breath germs. Look for a sugar-free brand such a Bianca.

Dry Mouth Spray. Biotene Moisturizing Mouth Spray restores mouth moisture and reduces mouth odor. Sugar free and alcohol free, it's sold at major drug stores.

The mouth is the window to the body. It is an indicator of the body's overall health, so we look forward to helping you and your family prevent oral disease in 2010!

Referring New Patients is the Ultimate Compliment

We love to give to our patients as a way of giving back. Patients who refer a new patient to our practice receive a $25.00 certificate for future dental treatment.

We ask all new patients how they heard about us. So when you tell friends and family about our office, be sure to ask them to give you credit as the referral source.

Expanded Hours

Our Olentangy office is now open most Tuesday & Thursday evenings until 8:00 p.m., and one or two Saturdays each month. Call to schedule preventive care so we can help you avoid big problems. » (614) 451-1110

Stem Cells in Dental Pulp—A Wise Use for Your Wisdom Teeth?

Children and young adults can store their stem cells from developing wisdom teeth for future use

About 80 percent of dental patients between the ages of 13 and 18 have their wisdom teeth removed. It's an everyday, common procedure. While the removal of wisdom teeth is common, what's inside these teeth is unique. Scientific studies have proven that wisdom teeth, which are usually just thrown away, hold millions of adult stem cells.

For more than 25 years, doctors have been taking stem cells and transferring them to other parts of the body so that the cells can assist in the fight against certain diseases, such as leukemia and bone cancers. The adult stem cells obtained from developing wisdom teeth are almost exactly like embryologic stem cells . . . and without the controversy.

The process of extracting adult stem cells from wisdom teeth is called “Biodontus.” This technique has been developed by oral surgeons so that a patient's experience when obtaining the adult stem cells is not significantly different from that of the typical removal of wisdom teeth.

Digital X-Rays Help Us Help You

We've converted to digital radiographs

We converted from conventional films to digital radiographs in order to provide faster and better information about your oral health.

Like digital cameras, digital x-rays offer immediate viewing. We no longer have to wait for film to be developed, and hope the pictures turn out okay. Digital images are large, clear, and accurate. The highly detailed image of your teeth can be rotated, magnified, and adjusted for color to help with diagnosis and treatment planning. Exposure to radiation is far less than with old-fashioned x-rays, and we are able to store and protect your x-rays better on a computer, thus saving paper, films, and storage space.

Now when you have x-rays in our office, a tiny sensor is placed in your mouth that records an image of your oral structures. The image is stored in our computer and it can be sent electronically to specialists, other dentists, and insurance companies.

Go Green—Go Electronic!

Receive your bills electronically

Paperless billing helps lessen environmental impact and reduce costs. It allows us to use less paper, postage, and fuel to help avoid fee increases.

In addition to cutting costs and environmental waste, e-billing is a convenient way for patients to ask billing questions via email, any time or day, rather than to wait to call during office hours. Viewing and reconciling charges is thus faster and easier.

We value your time and our environment. If you are interested in online billing, please send an email to us at info@columbusdentists.net.
